Linerlytica, a liner data provider, said in a report that while space utilization on Pacific routes picked up last week, it was still below last year's average.The company pointed out that after the adjustment of China's epidemic prevention policy, the number of infected people in COVID-19 increased, which affected the operational efficiency of Chinese ports.Congestion at Chinese ports including Shanghai, Ningbo and Qingdao has intensified in the past week, with the capacity of container ships waiting at Chinese port anchorages rising to 850,000 TEUs, the highest level since September last year.

Linerlytica also said that freight rates on Asia-Europe routes are expected to rebound, and it is expected that freight rates will rebound in the next two SCFI evaluations.SCFI index shows that freight rates on European routes have stabilized in the past few weeks.However, the prospect of Container's shipping market is still full of challenges, especially when a large number of ships are ordered and delivered.

Liner operators are already in talks with shipyards to delay deliveries of some large ships from this year to next, according to shipping consultancy Alphaliner.It is reported that MSC currently has many large container ships idle in China's waters, and it is expected that the company will postpone the delivery of more super-large container ships until 2023.
