Requirements for weight, size and packaging in international air transport

2023-11-03 824

The dimensions and weight requirements of international air cargo are as follows: The weight of cargo is calculated according to gross weight, and the unit of measurement is kg. The mantissa weighing less than 1 kg is rounded off. If the cargo weight of each air waybill is less than 1 kg, it shall be calculated as 1 kg. Valuables are calculated according to the actual gross weight, and the unit of calculation is 0.1 kg.

For goods carried by non-wide-body aircraft, the weight of each piece of goods generally does not exceed 80 kg, and the volume generally does not exceed 40 × 60 × 100 cm. The weight of each piece of cargo carried by wide-body aircraft generally does not exceed 250 kg, and the volume generally does not exceed 100 × 100 × 140 cm. For goods exceeding the above weight and volume, the carrier may determine the maximum weight and volume of the goods that can be collected and transported according to the aircraft type and the loading and unloading equipment conditions of the departure and destination airports.

The sum of length, width and height of each piece of goods shall not be less than 40 cm.

If the volume of each kilogram of goods exceeds 6000 cubic centimeters, it is light foam goods. Light foam goods shall be weighed as equivalent to 1 kilogram per 6000 cubic centimeters.

Dimension requirements are as follows:

-The unilateral length is between 120CM and 200CM, and the charge is 100 yuan/piece.

-If the second long side exceeds 75CM, the charge is 100 yuan/box (there is no specific price for unilateral side exceeding 200CM).

-If the weight is between 22.5 kg and 40kg, the charge is 140 yuan/piece (there is no specific price for more than 40kg).

-If one long side plus two wide sides plus two high sides is greater than 320CM, there is no specific price and services cannot be provided.

-The minimum charge for air delivery service is 12KG per box.

-The minimum charge for Shanghai-style service is 10 kg per case.

Restrictions on small package sizes are as follows:

-Size limit: small size is 10*15cm;; The long side shall not exceed 60cm;; Length * width * height shall not exceed 60*40*40cm.

The single piece weight limit of Shanghai-style service is as follows according to different channels:

-The weight of a single piece does not exceed 23Kg (actual weight);

-The longest side cannot exceed 63.5 cm;;

-The second long side cannot exceed 63.5 cm;;

-The girth cannot exceed 374CM.

If the longest side of a single piece of goods in bulk warehouse exceeds 120cm to 150cm, an extra-long fee will be charged at 1.2 times of the freight. If the longest side exceeds 150cm to 200cm, an extra-long fee will be charged at 1.5 times of the freight. For a single piece of goods exceeding 200cm, the freight should be determined by separate consultation.

Matters needing attention on international air cargo:

1. The basic requirements of airlines for the outer packaging of goods are: the packaging requirements are firm, conform to international transportation standards, and must not be exposed. It is better to use export wooden cases and avoid log cases (because many countries have restrictions on log cases). Oversized and overweight goods (gross weight greater than or equal to 60KG) generally need to be supported, which is convenient to use forklifts. Pallet contact ground should be flat.

2. Goods must be accompanied by a safety certificate, and a list must be attached when CONSOL goods. For chemicals, powdered articles, liquid articles and cargo containing batteries, relevant certificates (such as airline certificates and relevant department certificates such as MSDS) must be attached.

3. Be accurate when finally confirming the quantity of goods, and it is best to confirm the accurate number of goods before the goods arrive at the airport. This involves the speed of cargo warehousing and the workload of airports. Usually, the number of pieces provided by the owner is inaccurate, so the operator needs to verify the accurate number of pieces again after the goods are sent or as soon as possible. The accuracy of the number of cargo pieces will affect the effectiveness of air transport labels.

4. For the outer packaging of goods, it is necessary to pay attention to whether the single piece of goods is a large piece of goods when booking space. Under normal circumstances, if the gross weight of a single piece of goods exceeds 80KG, it needs to be stocked. If the goods are large goods, it is recommended to make an appointment with the airport in advance.
